| Descripción decolonial |
The Ramey Air Force Base Barracks on the outskirts of Aguadilla, known as Borinquen Field Base, serves as an emblem of military control and continued occupation of Puerto Rican territory as a colonial practice. In these spaces an air base was built where imposing buildings were erected to house a large number of planes and soldiers in preparation for a possible German incursion into the Caribbean. The acquisition of Puerto Rican lands for military purposes by the United States government, beginning in the 1930s, without local consent, is a clear example of territorial control and land appropriation. Many Puerto Rican families were displaced from those spaces to use them for strategic military purposes.
