Description

View of the interior of the Casa Wiechers-Villaronga located between the streets Méndez Vigo and Reina from the coastal city of Ponce. The house has two floors made of brick masonry, stone and wood with characteristics of the Art Nouveau, Neoclassic and Catalan Modernism styles. One of the rooms has a wooden bed and next to it there is a furniture made of wood and marble with drawers. There is also a decorative frame on the bed and a double window made of wood and glass with lattice. The Casa Wiechers-Villaronga dates back to 1911 and belonged to its own designer, Mr. Alfredo B. Wiechers and subsequently to Mr. Gabriel Villaronga. Years later, in 1984 the house was included in the National Register of Historic Places. In the 1990s it was acquired by the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña, restored from 1989 until 1991 and turned into what it is now, the Museo de la Arquitectura Ponceña.
