Description
Exterior view of the Casa Wiechers-Villaronga located between the streets Méndez Vigo and Reina from the coastal city of Ponce. The house has two floors made of brick masonry, stone and wood with characteristics of the Art Nouveau, Neoclassic and Catalan Modernism. The rear facade of the house also has wooden walls on a painted masonry base with areas covered with lattice area. One of the doors is presided by an overhang balconet supported with metallic brackets and crowned with a flat eave. In addition, the rear part of the house has a paved garden with tiles and decorated with garden areas creating geometric patterns. In the background, you can distinguish a wooden pergola supported with square columns. The Casa Wiechers-Villaronga dates back to 1911 and belonged to its own designer, Mr. Alfredo B. Wiechers and subsequently to Mr. Gabriel Villaronga. Years later, in 1984 the house was included in the National Register of Historic Places. In the 1990s it was acquired by the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña, restored from 1989 until 1991 and turned into what it is now, the Mueso de la Arquitectura Ponceña.| Origin Name |
