Descripción decolonial
San Felipe del Morro Castle is the second largest fortification in Puerto Rico, surpassed by San Cristóbal Castle. For three centuries, it was the main defensive fortification for Spain until its defeat in 1898. This represents Puerto Rico's colonial role since its conquest in 1493 until today: being a strategic military bastion. El Morro remains as evidence of the spaces that, due to Puerto Rico's colonial status, have not been reverted to the ownership of the people of Puerto Rico and have been administered by the federal government. Since 1961, it is a national park and tourist destination planned by the Boostrap Project.
