Description
Exterior view of the Casa Vives located between the Paseo Atocha street and Castillo street from the coastal city of Ponce. The house has two floors made of brick masonry and wood with characteristics of the Neoclassic style. From the rooftop of the Casa Vives you can see the interior of an adjacent house. It has one floor made of deteriorated brick masonry. Since it does not have roof you can distinguish on its interior, the floor covered with native tiles, rectangular openings and beams supported with fluted columns. In addition, in front, the sidewalk is covered with tiles and there are people seated on benches. The Casa Vives was built between 1859 and 1860 for the family of Don Salvador de Vives, founder of the Hacienda Buena Vista of Ponce. It was used as a family residence and a commercial establishment. It is considered one of the well preserved houses from the XIX century in the island. Since 2012 the Casa Vives belongs to the National Register of Historic Places.| Origin Name |
