Casa Dr. Manuel de la Pila Iglesias - Ponce Historic Photo

Description

Front view of residence formerly located on the Marina street from the coastal city of Ponce. The house had one floor elevated on a podium and had characteristics of the Art Nouveau style. The podium goes up to the front with half circle shape, it creates an open balcony with ornamental iron railing that goes to both far ends of the open balcony. The front facade is decorated with doors and windows under semicircular arches framed with ornamental moldings. Aside from that, the doors are double made of wood with lattices, glass and transoms. In addition, the facade shows a continuous entablature matched with a wavy ornamental frieze, decorative brackets and a cornice above which it rests a parapet also decorated with greek key patterns. You can also see a part of the roof covered with roofing tiles. The old residence of the Dr. Manuel de la Pila Iglesias was built at the beginning of the XX century, restored in 1930 by Francisco Porrata Doria and subsequently demolished in 1973.
