Description

Carnegie Library located in barrio Puerta de Tierra in Old San Juan. Its origins date back to 1903 when the Insular Library of Puerto Rico was founded. It was inaugurated in 1917 as the Carnegie Library and was the first public library of Puerto Rico. It was included in the National Register of Historic Places of United States in 1983. The building is representative of the Neoclassical architecture style. It is painted pink and white. The side façade and posterior façade of the library can be observed. It has a hipped roof covered by glass tiles. It also has pilasters, cornices, wooden lattice windows with uprights and framed by rectangular white moldings. There is also a road, handrails, and trees.
