"El Fanguito"

View of "El Fanguito"

View of a slum known as "El Fanguito," in the town of San Juan. The houses are built over a wetland in the are surrounding the Caño Martín Peña. There are rowhouses made of wood with zinc roofs. Some houses have flat roofs and others are gabled roofs. All of the houses are built on stilts and are quite similar. They have simple doors or double wooden doors as well as wooden and jalousie windows. Some houses have promotional signs on the walls. Some areas on the floor have elevated panels over the channel's water. In the surrounding area, there is trash, clothes, wood, and garbage containers. There are three people standing over the boards. In the distance there are power poles.

Filling Works in the Martín Peña Mangroves

Extensive space of land where the bridge built over the Martín Peña sector channel in Santurce can be seen. There are houses made of wood, with gabled zinc roofs and raised off the ground on stilts. In the surrounding area there are other wooden buildings, trees and shrubs, paths, trucks, and people walking. The sector known as Barrio Obrero can be seen in the distance.
