Asilo de Beneficencia, Military Facilities
Corner view of the Old Asilo de Beneficencia in Old San Juan after it was transferred to the Federal Government for military use. The main façade and one of the side walls can be seen. The two-story Neoclassical building is surrounded by a fence with iron grilles, boasting a pedestrian entrance with stairs at the front and a vehicular entrance on the side. The center of the main façade consists of eight columns on each level, with cornices between the first and second floors and at the upper edge, three triangular pediments, one in the center and one at each corner, one of which has a coat of arms. On the second level, three balustrades are visible. The construction also features pilasters with quoins and rectangular windows with individual cornices on the first floor, while on the second floor, there are smooth pilasters and semicircular arched windows featuring canvas awnings. A car is parked next to the side wall, cars are parked in front of the building and passing through the street; there are two men behind one of the parked cars, and a military person walking in front of the main entrance. A streetlight can be seen hanging from a cable that spans from one side of the street to the other.
